In February 2020, just before the pandemic, we received the keys to our new home. Needless to say, it was not an ideal time to buy a 1950s property in desperate need of being brought up to date. After speaking with architects who did not listen to what we really needed, we contacted Renova and met with John. John arrived quickly too our home and presented a detailed quote in a timely manner. Following that, we went to a couple of design meetings with Sian and Barbara. These discussions put our minds at ease even more, and it was wonderful to be able to make all of the decisions ahead of time before construction began on the house.

During the pandemic, Renova handled the project admirably and, with the exception of a few minor changes and adjustments that appeared reasonable at the time, we kept on budget.

Any modifications that arose were always explicitly costed by Renova before we made a choice on whether or not to proceed. There was only one snag, which involved our roof, and it was immediately and without hesitation remedied.

Now that we’ve settled into our new home, we can confidently state that Renova provided an energy-efficient, elegant home for our family. Renova has a standout service delivery model. We have no reservations about endorsing Renova. Throughout the process, their advice was sound and they offered many helpful suggestions. Our new neighbours remarked on how pleasant Renova was to deal with. We know that without their experience and professionalism, we would not have been able to take on such a large renovation, for which we are very thankful.

Project Details

Our clients on this project had just bought this house and it needed complete modernisation and redesign to make it into a modern home. This was definitely a ‘one of everything’ job. The retrofit specification was comprehensive including a heat pump with underfloor heating. Sian & Barbara took care of the aesthetic side of things which included a substantial first floor dormer extension to the rear. This required planning permission which we submitted for our clients. The only hitch on this job was COVID which shut the site down for 3 months shortly after we stated. Other than this the project went smoothly and our clients were very pleased with their new home which is the equivalent of a brand new house. A very pleasant bonus for clients and us alike was that the finished house got an A3 BER rating, that was nice.
