This house was a busy family home. It had been extended some years back but the owners found it to be a bit cold and draughty and certain finishes and fittings were suffering from wear and tear. It was time for an upgrade.
The emphasis was on improving the ground floor to make it more functional. Double doors to the sitting room were closed off to create a more peaceful room with a new fireplace and stove. A practical snug room was created off the kitchen that can be opened up to the kitchen via the large sliding partition.
The kitchen and utility layouts were completely reconfigured and the back wall of this space was opened up to the garden with a large glass sliding door. New kitchen and utility room fittings were installed along with built in furniture and storage.
The family bathroom and WC were re-fitted too.
The ground floor is insulated to modern standards with new heating, plumbing and electrical wiring and fittings. It is draught free, comfortable and newly decorated; it is the equivalent of a new house.
