PROJECT DETAILS
This was our third significant renovation in the same development in Blainroe. Our clients on this occasion had been using this house as a holiday home but wanted to upgrade it for future use as their primary home.
The house was in ‘original’ condition meaning that it was old and cold. While acceptable as a summer home this would not do as a primary home. It was also too small.
We needed to extend the house to add a utility space and to provide a larger kitchen, dining and living space. We also reconfigured the original entrance hall, bathroom and bedroom arrangement to suit the new layout.
For this project we needed to agree a design with our clients, seek management company approval, and apply for planning permission.
The retrofit works were as comprehensive as any house we’d done before and included a new concrete floor slab with underfloor heating and an air-to-water heat pump. This required removal of an existing concrete slab and all internal partition walls. A full suite of other retrofit works were carried out too. This house was effectively re-built as shown in the during photos below.
Fit out and finishes included ‘one of everything’ and the house was handed over in walk-in condition as shown in the photographs. This house is the equivalent of a newly built house.
