Our clients on this job had just recently purchased their house. The layout, decor and building fabric were dated and in need of upgrading. They had, however, moved in for a period of some months to get a feel for the house and decide upon the alterations they might make.

Because the owners of this house had lived in it for some time, they were clear on the changes and improvements that they wanted. Our initial consultation was therefore very straightforward. We initially met at RENOVA, followed by a meeting at their house to carry out a condition and dimensional survey. Our initial proposal was tabled within one week of our first meeting.

We carried out a slightly reduced scope of Deep Retrofit works on this job. The existing heating system, for example, was in good condition, so it was retained. Our clients felt that the house was quite comfortable to live in, so some existing insulation was left unchanged; for instance, under the ground floor. Our client made an informed decision to carry out this slightly reduced scope of retrofit works and instead to invest in the fit out and finishes. The retrofit works that we carried out did, however, make a substantial improvement to comfort levels in the house, and its energy efficiency.

On this project our clients’ priority was that their old-fashioned decor and layout would be updated. To this end they worked closely with Penny, our designer, to alter the layout and  select all fittings and finishes. All traces of the original decoration are now gone, but the nicer architectural features have been maintained. The house has a contemporary look and feel inside.

An updated interior in the original shell – the best of both worlds.
