Project Details

Our clients on this job had owned this house for years. But it had not been their primary residence, it had been rented out to students. Our clients had decided to move into this house and make it their home. Therefore they wanted us to transform the house from a ‘student rental’ into a ‘home’ for themselves.

Although this house was not very old, it was old enough to be cold and draughty. The quality of the original workmanship and materials was low and had deteriorated over the years. Everything needed to be updated, so this house was an ideal candidate for a full RENOVA deep retrofit.

We began by redesigning the layout of the house to secifically suit our clients requirements. The original ground floor was small and broken up into too many separate spaces. The new layout is completely open plan. At first floor we removed all of the partitions and rebuild them to a slightly altered layout. The box room was opened up to create a bright landing space and allow for a better stairs to the attic room.

The building fabric was modernised with the addition of insulation, ventilation and airtightness, plus new aluclad windows and doors. We installed new heating, plumbing and wiring with heating controls.

All new fittings and finishes were installed including kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, carpentry, fireplace, wardrobes and decoration. To complete the job we built a patio in the back garden and extended the driveway. All our clients needed to do after handover was move in their furniture and belongings to complete the job.

This project finished on schedule and on budget.
