“John and Alan transformed a drab, dated house into a modern, bright, high-spec home, all within budget and on time. Their enthusiasm and positive approach made the project a wholly enjoyable experience.”

PROJECT DETAILS

Brief

On this project, our client’s priority was to improve comfort and energy-efficiency.

Deep Retrofit

The walls and roof were highly insulated, with membranes and tapes being used to secure airtightness. The walls were dry-lined using a combination of ‘spray foam’ by Insulation Plus and insulated plasterboard slabs.  A-rated triple glazed windows with a U-value of 0.8. by Grady Joinery were installed along with a new heating system.

The internal layout was modernised by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create a modern open plan kitchen/diner.

Finish

The finish included: a new kitchen by Nolan Kitchens; Balterio flooring;  new doors; and a wood-burning ‘Scan’ stove by Fenton Fires. The finish also included a new bathroom, wardrobes, carpets, paintings and blinds.

The End Result

Through Deep Retrofit, this newly renovated home is now effectively a new house within an original house. It has been transformed from a cold, dark, dreary, badly-designed house into a modern, comfortable, cosy and energy-efficient home.
